As we were approaching the outdoor escalator to the mall, I noticed a lot of people with paint covering their entire being and wearing shirts that said: The Color Run.
Once inside, we saw them everywhere! The mall even had a spacious promotional section dedicated to the event.
The Color Run, I've discovered, is an un-timed 5K event that is hosted in cities all over the world--including many in the U.S. It's the original "paint race", and according to its website, it is the "Happiest 5K on the Planet!" Basically, you walk/run a course that covers you head-to-toe in paint at each kilometer--and all of the people we saw definitely seemed to be enjoying their paint-covered status! Many of them had costumes of some sort--tutus, kooky sunglasses, crazy rainbow wigs, etc. It seems like a fun and fantastic opportunity in which people of all ages and abilities could participate.

LOL!!! So funny that you got to see the aftermath of a Color Run. Too Funny, as there have been a couple of them in Indy for a few years now! I, myself, find them a bit ridiculous!! I mean, I am all for a good cause and a good time... but having such powdery paint thrown in your face (think about this, powdery paint thrown in your face while huffing and puffing and trying to run!?! Sounds like a problem to me!!!) over and over again and then in every crevasse for you to find for weeks to come... No Thank You! I like to run and enjoy running races, but I'll do it without the paint, mud ('Tough Mudder' is one), slime, water, snow, etc... The only such races that will peak my interest have a wine or beer or maybe a chocolate theme!! :D
ReplyDeleteAnd most races have some crazy runners who dress up in weird and wild outfits, be it the theme of the race (HoHoHo (Santa) or Shamrock Shuffle (Leprechauns)) or just for the fun of it... I guess it helps them get revved up to run!?!?
Anywho... Thanks for sharing, too funny!
SOOOO the real question, how was the shopping at the mall????? ;)
Love the skyline picture by the way, beautiful!!!!!!!!
What?! They have this in Indy? I'd never even heard of this race until yesterday. Guess I'd never thought about the impracticality of the paint--yuck :( Does it wash out? Bc there were a lot of ppl with expensive running shoes covered in paint!
ReplyDeleteThe mall is fantastic--I've been there several times since we've been here. But the clothes here are very expensive. Even the stores that are the same in the US. The Gap, for example, is like 30-40% higher than at home. But there are a few stores that I love a lot, so I check in every once in a while to see if some of the clothes have gone on sale. Had to buy some shoes for the kids while we were here, and those prices weren't too bad--but the clothes are for some reason. Books are really pricey too. Amazon needs to get its act together and deliver to Chile! Can you believe I've been living without Amazon for almost 3 months?! My wish list has become very, very long ;)
It does wash out, if you want it too ... but I think they tell you to wear a white t-shirt and then you can 'SET' the color in by soaking it in cold water!?!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe clothing costs are so much higher... is it due to taxes or conversion? As I am sure they are coming from China just as they do here in the states!?!?!
LOL on the amazon list!!! HA! I can't believe you have made it without your amazon... but you could still be shopping and shipping things home to wait for you when you get there!! :)
Hope all is well!!! Loves!!
It's definitely not the exchange rate. We are 6 to 1 with the dollar against the peso. We go to restaurants that are considered incredibly high end, but they are like Applebee's prices for us. This is with fabulous bottles of Chilean wine and appetizers. I think it is the shipping price combined with a smaller demand. I ordered some books a few days ago and the site thought I wanted the items shipped TO Chile. I didn't. When I specified that it was to be shipped to US, the shipping cost went down 50 US dollars. That wax just the shipping cost! Crazy, right?!
DeleteAs fr ad Amazon I'd concerned, I just starting d ordering things last week to be sent home for Christmas. We'll be home soon!
